The story of chronic fatigue syndrome and depression

February 12, 2019

Is there anyone who usually recovers from work or other fatigue by taking a bath in a bab or taking a rest and recovering, but even if he rests, he never recovers? It may be chronic fatigue syndrome. Or, depression has similar symptoms! My heart is still okay, but my body may be screaming!

What is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

It is a normal symptom that everyone feels tired and is one of the biological alarms that informs the body of the urgent need. Pain, fever, and fatigue are said to be the three major alarms that signal abnormalities in the body.

However, "chronic fatigue syndrome" is a symptom in which a strong feeling of fatigue continues forever and does not recover or improve even though you should have taken sufficient rest, and fatigue continues to the extent that it interferes with your daily life. ..

It is a disease reported in the United States in the 1980s, and it seems that there are about 300,000 to 400,000 patients with chronic fatigue syndrome in Japan today! It seems that there are many people in their 20s and 50s who are in the prime of their work, and Japanese people are always tired because they work too much, so maybe they just don't notice it and there may be more! ??

Symptoms of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

・ Symptoms similar to colds such as low -grade fever and headache
・ Physical weakness
・ Sleep disorders
・Loss of concentration

And so on, and depression has similar symptoms.
To put it the other way around, people who have been feeling tired for a long time may have "hidden depression"!

Causes of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

The exact cause has not yet been clarified, but it is possible that stress is the cause or an infectious disease.

Infection

Chronic fatigue syndrome that occurs after the onset of an infectious disease such as a virus is diagnosed and treated as "myopathic encephalomyelitis" overseas, and the causative virus is actively identified. However, in Japan, the basis for myalgic encephalomyelitis has not yet been found, so it is currently diagnosed as "post-infection chronic fatigue syndrome." Approximately 30% of Japanese patients develop the disease as a result of infections such as influenza and herpesvirus.

Living environment stress

・ If

living environment stress such as physical stress (overwork, etc.) , mental stress (human relations, etc.), and environmental stress (scientific substance, noise, etc.) continues, the body's immunity weakens and it is infected before. The virus that was latent in the body is reactivated by weakening immunity. More immune substances are produced to suppress the reactivation of this virus, which adversely affects the brain and upsets the balance of neuroendocrine and immune functions, resulting in abnormal brain function. It is thought that the virus causes severe fatigue and various symptoms.

Chronic fatigue syndrome? depression? Maybe both?

If 5 or more of the 10 symptoms below continue for 6 months or more, you may have chronic fatigue syndrome.

・ Fatigue
・ Slight fever
・ Headache
・ Sore throat
・ Muscle weakness
・ Muscle pain
・ Joint pain
・ Sleep disorder・ Loss of
thinking and concentration
・ Swelling of lymph nodes in the neck

However, when I first suffered from depression, these symptoms had been present in my body in the pre-stage. At that time, I didn't know about the illness called chronic fatigue syndrome, so I went to a doctor and had an IV drip, but eventually I developed depression .

So, if you suspect chronic fatigue syndrome, you may have "hidden depression" even if you don't feel depressed without mood or anxiety disorders . The sign of depression may appear first on the body rather than on the mind. Conversely, chronic fatigue syndrome may cause depression.

If you feel tired for a long time, we recommend that you suspect both chronic fatigue syndrome and depression and consult your doctor.

Take good care of yourself before you get sick!
