A story about why depression makes you feel lonely

March 28, 2019

That's why this time I'm talking about research on "loneliness" and depression.

Sputnik Japan says,

Researchers have investigated whether young people's orientation towards loneliness actually proves their tendency to become depressed in a modern society of constant communication through social networks. To that end, the researchers conducted a questionnaire survey of 803 young people between the ages of 18 and 25 and 176 minors with an average age of 16. Based on the answers to the questionnaire, the researchers wanted to separate the unavoidable anxiety that occurred during communication from the spontaneous loneliness.
A survey found that people seeking loneliness from the negative emotions they felt during communication were actually at risk of depression. Psychological problems do not occur for those who want to face themselves by thinking quietly. Researchers, on the other hand, believe that loneliness can be a good opportunity for young people to better understand themselves.

And that.

You might think that depression = loneliness, but the opposite is not true. However, although it is not a mistake to say that "depression seeks loneliness" , it does mean that "people who like loneliness are not prone to depression . "

On the contrary, it is known that loneliness is often good for improving self-control and communication skills.

Also, as you can see from this questionnaire survey, there is a high risk of developing depression due to the negative emotions felt during communication, that is, relationships. The predominant theory is that stress is the cause of depression, but the number one cause of stress is human relationships. So it's also a self-defense instinct that makes you prefer loneliness to avoid that relationship.

I was the same. I wanted to be alone, and I became negative about communication with my family, and I remembered that I went home after spending time at a standing bar or a pachinko parlor at night. Oh, that behavior was a precursor to depression.

Be careful if your dad does that! Even if you're not depressed, there may be health and financial damage!

Enjoying loneliness improves the quality of life

As I mentioned earlier, loneliness can improve self-control and communication skills.

Even though it is loneliness, it means loneliness that values "time alone" in daily life while maintaining human relationships, so the extreme and ultimate of "living alone on an uninhabited island!" I'm not pursuing loneliness.

So what are the benefits of so-called "loneliness"?

・ By introspecting your life, you will improve yourself, strengthen your mentality, and improve your self-control.
・ By being freed from unreasonable relationships, interpersonal stress is reduced and the risk of depression is also reduced.
・ Because you don't have to worry about interpersonal relationships, you can cherish your time and improve the happiness of your life.
・ You will be able to concentrate on your time and feel more confident in yourself.

I highly recommend this book for "the power to enjoy loneliness". Your outlook on life will change.

It's okay if you have few friends but you really need them

In my own experience, I've taken unfounded actions to treat depression by making more friends. Then, a shallow and wide friendship spread messed up, but I was exhausted from maintaining that thin friendship, and I got stuck in the swamp of depression again, and eventually I liquidated all the networks I built.

There are only a few best friends left. However, I realized that a few of them were enough friends that I really needed.

Also, I started reading a lot of books in my lonely time. You should read a lot of books because they are good at cospa. For around 1500 yen at most, you can get the thoughts of others and various knowledge and culture! How useful it is than when I was in school and had lessons open! Read a book!
